Yesterday
was a long day of flying. Our flight from LA to Shanghai was 13 hours, but we had a 3 hour layover and another 3 hour flight before we arrived in my family’s hometown of Shenyang.
By the time we settled down, it was past midnight local time, which was like 8am in CA, meaning we had been traveling for almost 24 hours.
Oh, and Dwyane Wade of the Miami heat was on my flight in first...
Taking off!
I’m about to board my flight to Shanghai! Talk to you all in twelve hours, and a whole different world away :)

Goodbye
is such a strange word.
If you’re Mr. Woodin, you don’t believe in goodbyes. And at first, I always dismissed this as another Woodin quirk. But in retrospect, he’s onto something.
There never really is a real “goodbye.” I tried saying goodbye to a few of my closest friends today because it was the last time I’d see them until after we start college.
And it...

Day 24: Underclassmen who you'll miss
There are several underclassmen that I have had the privilege to mentor in Speech & Debate over the past few years. I will miss seeing their daily growth in potential, ability, and maturity. And what they don’t know is that they’ve impacted me probably more than I’ve ever done for them.
And of course, good luck to next year’s mock trial team :)

Day 23: Upperclassmen who affected you
Katie and Andrew influenced my growth tremendously in high school. They were both amazing role models, and inspired me to follow my passions to the fullest potential. I owe a lot to both of them.

Day 22: Your thoughts on your romantic life in...
Wong Fu Productions hit the nail on the head with Stranger’s, again. It’s a fact that every relationship ends up in either breakup or marriage. But even though most high school relationships don’t survive to the point of marriage, I think that every relationship, regardless of a good or bad breakup, is a valuable and necessary experience. Part of growing up is learning more about...

Thank You
bofeng:
Thank you God, thank you fate, thank you luck because I am still alive and breathing today.
I had encountered three major death experiences. These experience really made me realize how lucky I am. Two of them happened in middle school. And if I just disappeared then oh boy imagine that ! I wouldn’t have met all these amazing people that I met in high school, and really I just...

More fun in the sun!
Shaved ice is always refreshing! Sibling lunches :P
Winnie, Celeste, and I went to visit Alan in his new home in Chino Hills. There is a pretty big mall in Chino Hills (but I have to agree with Alan when he says that there isn’t much to do). But exploring a new city is always fun!
The 99 cents store has worthless grammar….
That day in Chino Hills, we also planned a...

Speech & Debate diplomacy
I mentioned this before, but I love it when the lines between competing schools’ teams blur, and people come together just to help out and inspire younger students.
Today, Oscar Wang (former San Marino S&D President), Carl Trigilio (Arcadia Speech alum), and I spent the day coaching speech together. We began the day at San Marino High talking about our experiences and teaching some...

Day 20: Favorite place to be on campus
This is easy. C-3 and A-204 (the Speech & Debate classrooms).
This is where my crazy family resides for half the school day. It’s where I can find our team’s surrogate mother who is the voice of reason and sarcasm. It’s the place where my life was changed by Speech & Debate. It’s where I feel most comfortable because I feel like it is my home at AHS.
A-204 will be...

Day 19: Biggest regret
Oooh… this is a tough one because I generally try to avoid thinking about the “what-if’s” and “could-have’s” of the past. To me, worrying about what happened in the past pales in comparison to the importance of always looking forward towards the future.
But, for the purposes of completing this post…..
If I were to have a “biggest...

i'm too easily amused
Okay, I don’t know if any of you have been to an Apple Store recently, but Apple’s new iTouch based EasyPay checkout system is SO COOL!
I was in the store and this guy is helping me pick out a FireWire cable and he keeps checking his phone and I’m like…
Dude, are you really gonna ignore the customer like that?
And then after I decide which cable to buy, I’m looking...

stream of consciousness thoughts on speech
I was talking to my friend Jenny the other day from Monte Vista High School (Danville, CA) when I realized how amazing Speech & Debate is at bringing people together.
Even though Speech&Debate is a competitive activity, I’ve become such good friends with people who I compete against at every tournament. And the competition is healthy! We push each other to be better, and our...

Stanford National Forensic Institute was one of the most amazing two weeks of my life. I posted about SNFI during one of my intense bouts of nostalgia in December.
But this video could probably explain better :)

Day 17: Oldest friend you've kept
I guess it was an amazing twist of fate that led me to sit next to Clark Fisher on the first day of 1st grade. Luckily, we shared one similarity as first graders that led us to become best friends- the desire to find loopholes in school rules to manipulate and take advantage of the playground. For those who went to Highland Oaks, does WW2, WW3, or Amusement Park ring a bell? Or how Clark and I...
