My third and final State Quals is tomorrow. This tournament always is a symbol of a year’s worth of hard work, dedication, tournaments, and memories. It hopefully won’t be the last tournament, but it’s the last time that the entire Arcadia team is competing together for this season.
It’s been a long and amazing journey through the world of Speech & Debate. This picture was taken at my first State Quals just about two years ago. I still remember the sheer happiness and pride I felt when I qualified to State Champs for the first time.
And here we are, two years down the road. A lot has changed (my age, event, my hairstyle, etc.) but the emotional significance of this tournament and this team remains the same.
It’s time for Arcadia Speech & Debate to stand together, rally around each other, and have a blast this weekend. I can’t wait to stand in a circle, do the traditional hand squeeze one last time, and scream Apaches….HOORAH!
By the way, I posted this picture for a few reasons. One- it was taken at my first State Quals. Second- Michelle and I are now duo partners (and competing tomorrow so wish us luck!). And third- Michelle’s birthday is today! So happy birthday Michelle Zhu, my duo partner and my (real life and in our duo) best friend :D
