welcome to the sanctuary where
my mind vomits into cyberspace,
and every day is a good day :)

ABOUT ME

I have been swimming competitively since I was 8 years old. Clark’s Mom (our current Mock Trial Co-Head Coach) suggested to my parents that I join swim because it would be fun for Clark and I to participate in a sport together.
Nine years later, this sport has influenced my life in more ways than I can imagine.
And suddently, my competitive swimming career is coming to an end. This Wednesday’s meet against CV will be my last high school dual meet. Next week’s League Prelims/Finals will be my last meet with the full high school team. And CIF in two weeks will be my last swim meet ever.
At today’s workout, Coach Jeff sat down to talk with the entire group about our goals for the future and how we all move forward for the next few months up to the next two years. And as the talk revolved around reaching a higher potential and level in swimming, I knew that I would miss this sport.
Today was also the first workout where we began reducing yardage and workload for a taper for CIF officially starting later this week. My mind flashed back to my very first taper- Summer JO’s when I was 10 years old.
It’s pretty scary to be honest. I’ve been swimming for so long that it has evolved from a hobby or activity, to a lifestyle.
But all good things must come to an end. And as I enter these last two weeks of swimming, I only expect myself to give it my all. It’s my last 25, so to speak… time to go all out and finish the race strong.

This picture was taken at a mid-season swim meet last summer. I have never posted it, but I really like it because I think it’s funny how almost all of the swimmers are in the same position. I am the one closest to the camera wearing the black jammer with the silver/red Rose Bowl cap.
