Congratulations to all the accepted members of Arcadia’s 2011-2012 Mock Trial Team!
It was a very long and grueling tryout and interview process. Over one hundred students expressed interest in our team, and seventy turned in an application and signed up for an interview. Our interviews spanned over a week, and continued everyday after school, sometimes past 6 PM.
Several interviews lasted for as long as thirty minutes, and the initial meeting with the coaches and interview panel to choose the new team lasted over five hours. Since that initial meeting, there were intense discussions about both the team and specific applicants that continued for days.
In the end, we accepted twenty-five of the seventy applicants, and I am proud to say that next year’s team will be quadruple the size of last year’s team. It is amazing to see how fast this team has grown and developed.
On a quick side note- it’s an interesting feeling to suddenly not help run this team. Sometimes, it is very difficult to let go because I have been a part of it since day one. But me letting go is part of this team’s growing process, and of course, I have full faith in next year’s coaching staff and student leadership! There is no doubt in my mind that this tradition of excellence will continue for years to come.
Finally, next year’s team is made up of the best of the best, and I could not be more excited to see how the team comes together and moves forward to competition. You will all be a part of the most amazing team experience, and I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity, commit yourself to the team, and have some fun!!
